Depending on how severe a cycle accident injury is, you may need months or years of medical care and rehabilitation.
With more than 26 years of successfully handling cycle accident claims, our team have seen claimants who have suffered a wide range of injuries. Here are some of the most frequent injuries they have come across over the years.
Types of injuries
Some of the most common causes of cycle accidents are potholes and spillages.
Spillages in particular can be created by the overfilling of fuel tanks or caps not being correctly secured or roadworks sites not being cleared properly after the completion of work.
Both can easily lead to a bashed up bike or worse.
When an oncoming car turns right across the path of a cyclist leaving them with nowhere to go but into the negligent driver’s car, leading to the dreaded phrase “Sorry mate, I didn’t see you”. There is often a ‘frank’ exchange of words where the cyclist points out to the motorist that quite obviously she or he was there to be seen!
Another common cause of cycle accidents is the instance where a driver emerges through ‘Give Way’ markings to the left or right of the correctly proceeding cyclist, often through slow moving or queueing traffic.
When entering or exiting a roundabout, motorists routinely fail to see cyclists because they’re so intent on looking for other motorists.
Although these types of accidents are often widely disputed and complicated claims, we are successful in over 95% of cases.
Component failure can be caused by faulty manufacturer parts or negligent fitting or repair.
Whether it be the sudden failure of a tube or fork, or something as simple as a loose bolt, it can lead to an accident just as serious as one resulting from a collision with a driver or pothole, as it can cause immediate loss of balance and control of the bike.

My bike was a write off and I injured my shoulder, elbow and hips. They ensured I was able to settle a claim which recognised both damage to my bike and my injuries and ensured I could access physiotherapy to restore full range of movement to my shoulder, would definitely recommend.
