What are the rules for sharing space with pedestrians, horse riders, and horse-drawn vehicles?

When cycling in areas shared with pedestrians, horse riders, or horse-drawn vehicles, exercise caution. Be particularly careful around children, older adults, and disabled individuals. Slow down as needed and make your presence known by ringing your bell (it’s recommended to have a bell fitted to your bike) or calling out politely.

Remember that pedestrians may be deaf, blind, or partially sighted, and this may not be obvious. Avoid passing pedestrians, horse riders, or horse-drawn vehicles closely or at high speed, especially from behind. Do not pass a horse on the left, as they can be easily startled. Always be prepared to slow down and stop if necessary.
