How do cycle routes and other facilities work?

Cycle lanes are typically marked by a white line, which may be broken, along the carriageway (see Rule 140). Utilise facilities such as cycle lanes and tracks, advanced stop lines, and toucan crossings (see Rules 62 and 73) to enhance your safety and ease of travel. The decision to use these facilities depends on your experience, skills, and the specific situation. While these amenities are designed for safety, cyclists can exercise their judgment and are not obligated to use them.
